The Acorn

Located at 415 South Blount Street, The Acorn is part of a downtown mixed-use project that is building an apartment complex and hotel on the site of a former surface parking lot. The hotel is planned for 138 rooms (or “keys”) and the multifamily is planned for 106 apartments (or “units”).

 

Progress

I recently went by the site to check out construction progress. The developer – Williams Realty and Building Company – is also using their own in-house general contracting (GC) team for the construction of the apartments.  At this point, construction has only commenced on the apartment phase which is on the eastern half of the site.

 

As of the end of June, you can see that they are currently working on framing and pouring concrete for the second level of the project.

 

On site you can see a large tower crane that sits in the middle of the site and can reach both the multifamily and hotel projects from the same spot.
