What is Oak City CRE?
Oak City CRE is an online platform created by Jed Byrne to connect and identify any projects he creates related to the places and spaces of Raleigh and the state of North Carolina. The “CRE” in the name stands for commercial real estate, and Oak City represents Raleigh!
Who is Jed Byrne?
Jed moved to the Triangle in 2012 to attend graduate school at UNC and plans to never leave! He fell in love with the area and its people. In 2013 he started his career in real estate development and has worked for various firms on multifamily, office, and mixed-use projects. After 8 years in the development industry he transitioned into the AEC (Architecture/Engineering/Construction) Consulting Industry as a Business Development Representative for WithersRavenel in 2021. Oak City CRE and all related projects are independent projects created by Jed Byrne and do not reflect the views of my employer. All comments and opinions are my own.
What are the various Oak City CRE projects?
- The Top Five – a weekly real estate newsletters focused on development in Raleigh. I started the newsletter in 2017 and every week curate a list of the top five links on development that I find. The purpose of the newsletter is to help keep folks up to speed on the market in a short period of time.
- The DirtNC Podcast – the podcast is an ongoing and irregular show where I talk about the “places and spaces of North Carolina and the people who make them awesome.” I find it to be a privilege to get to meet and get to know the people who make our places so awesome, and I created the show to share some of those conversations with others. Podcast episodes are hosted for 90-days on Buzzsprout and then are moved to the archive.
- Social Media – I am most active on Twitter but also have a presence on Medium, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Top Five Jobs List – This is a curated list of AEC job openings that people share with me and I share with my newsletter subscribers.

How are Oak City CRE projects funded?
